Daniel del Portal, MD, MBA, was named Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer of Yale New Haven Health (YNHHS), a role in which he will lead systemwide efforts to advance quality, safety, patient experience, clinical growth, and operational performance.

Del Portal joins Yale New Haven Health from Temple University Health System, where he serves as Senior Vice President of Medical Operations and System Chief Clinical Officer. At Temple, he helped drive improvements in quality and financial performance, led development of the health system's Capacity Management Center, created a systemwide Addiction Medicine service line, and served as president of the Professional Medical Staff at Temple University Hospital.
At Yale New Haven Health, del Portal will oversee several platform services including pharmacy, laboratory, rehabilitative therapies, and diagnostic imaging, as well as case management and Y-Access, and will help develop the clinical enterprise strategic plan focused on growth in existing and new service areas. His first day with the system is October 5, 2026.

Del Portal earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and his MBA from Temple University's Fox School of Business, and is board certified in Emergency Medicine.
