Northwell Health's Norwalk Hospital has appointed Dan DeBarba as its new president, returning him to a Connecticut hospital leadership role he held earlier in his career.

DeBarba succeeds Peter R. Cordeau, who previously served as Norwalk Hospital's president. Cordeau is transitioning to an executive leadership role overseeing workforce development within Northwell Health.

He most recently served as chief financial officer (CFO) of Northwell's Connecticut and Hudson Valley region and previously led Norwalk Hospital as president from 2010 to 2014.

In 2014, DeBarba played a pivotal role in Norwalk Hospital's affiliation with Western Connecticut Health Network (WCHN) before becoming president of Danbury Hospital and executive vice president (EVP) and chief operating officer (COO) of WCHN. He later pursued leadership opportunities outside the health system before rejoining Nuvance Health, formerly WCHN, as CFO in 2022.

Returning to a hospital he once led, DeBarba said, "I am both delighted and honored to return to Norwalk Hospital. Though much has changed since 2014, I look forward to being reacquainted with the hospital's amazing staff and physicians and advancing its commitment to our community and clinical integration with Northwell Health."

DeBarba's extensive leadership experience and deep understanding of the regional health care market are expected to bring stability and expertise to Norwalk Hospital while advancing its clinical integration with Northwell Health. The appointment builds on his history with the hospital and reflects Northwell's continued momentum in guiding Norwalk Hospital's operations, extending to its physicians, staff and the community it serves.
