Meaningful Life Counseling of Woodbridge has expanded access to mindfulness-integrated Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy for anxiety throughout Connecticut. The program aims to improve appointment availability, clarify treatment pathways, and integrate mindfulness-based practices into anxiety care.
EMDR is a structured form of psychotherapy that uses bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements, to help reprocess distressing memories. While traditionally used for trauma, EMDR has shown promise for anxiety when paired with mindfulness practices that aid emotional regulation and present-moment awareness.
“Our expanded EMDR program gives clients more access to structured mindfulness and therapy options that support managing anxiety with clarity and care,” said Yonah Fenton, LMFT.
The program includes daytime and early evening sessions, telehealth where appropriate, and mindfulness-informed preparation such as paced breathing, sensory grounding, and values-based coping plans. Clients are assessed using validated anxiety scales to track progress and guide care plans.
The program is tailored for adults experiencing generalized anxiety, panic symptoms, and social or performance anxiety. Depending on assessment, clients may begin with mindfulness skills before EMDR or engage in a combined treatment plan coordinated with their broader care team.
