Encompass Health celebrated the grand opening of its first Connecticut location on August 28, welcoming community leaders, elected officials, and healthcare professionals to the new Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Danbury. The 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital, located at 50 Reserve Road, is expected to begin treating patients in September. Attendees at the event included U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, State Sen. Julie Kushner, State Rep. Farley Santo, State Rep. Ken Gucker, and Danbury Mayor Roberto Alves.

The 50,500-square-foot hospital is designed to help patients recovering from strokes, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations, and complex orthopedic conditions regain independence and quality of life. Patients will receive a minimum of three hours of intensive therapy five days a week, combined with frequent physician visits and around-the-clock nursing care. Treatment plans will be customized by an interdisciplinary team of nurses, therapists, and physicians.

“I’m eagerly awaiting the day our dedicated team can begin caring for patients in this beautiful, state-of-the-art hospital,” said George Gilliam, CEO of Encompass Health Danbury. “It’s a privilege to become part of the Danbury community, and we look forward to positively impacting the lives of many individuals in need of high-quality rehabilitative care.”

The facility includes 40 private rooms, a therapy gym with advanced technology, an activities of daily living suite, an in-house dialysis suite, pharmacy, dining areas, and a landscaped therapy courtyard.
