The Cigna Group Foundation has launched the second year of its Health Equity Impact Fund, announcing $3 million in new grant funding to support health equity initiatives in Hartford, Connecticut, and St. Louis, Missouri. Each city will receive targeted funding to address community-specific health challenges.
In Hartford, grants will support efforts to improve access to primary care and transportation—two barriers that significantly impact health outcomes in the city. Key goals include expanding culturally appropriate care and enhancing transportation options to help adults access medical appointments and engage in physical activity. The initiative aims to reduce disparities in a city marked by high poverty rates and shorter life expectancy than other parts of the state.
St. Louis will receive funding to combat the city’s elevated rates of substance use disorder and mental health emergencies. Grants will expand access to treatment and mental health services for adults, addressing two of the most pressing public health challenges in the region.
Each nonprofit grant will be up to $250,000 for a two-year term. The Health Equity Impact Fund is part of The Cigna Group Foundation’s broader $27 million philanthropic initiative focused on youth mental health, veterans’ wellbeing, and health equity.
