Brookfield-based ROM Technologies Inc. (ROMTech) has won the Remote Patient Monitoring category of the 2026 Newsweek AI Impact Health Awards, which recognize organizations using artificial intelligence (AI) to address challenges across healthcare. ROMTech won for its submission, “ROMTech Predictive Recovery: AI-Enabled Remote Monitoring for Earlier Clinical Intervention.” The category recognizes AI-enabled solutions that extend care beyond traditional clinical settings, with a focus on clinical effectiveness, patient engagement and data reliability.
The approach builds on ROMTech’s FDA-cleared PortableConnect platform, which lets patients complete clinician-directed rehabilitation at home while care teams monitor progress remotely. ROMTech uses AI to analyze data generated during therapy and identify changes that may signal when additional clinical attention is warranted.

Remote monitoring has already given clinicians greater visibility into what happens between appointments. ROMTech reports that more than 200,000 patients nationwide have been treated with its technology, creating real-world rehabilitation data that can inform its AI-driven insights and predictive capabilities.
Newsweek announced this year’s winners on Sept. 24. The honor follows Fast Company naming ROMTech to its Most Innovative Companies of 2025, LexisNexis including it in the Top 100 Global Innovators in 2026, and a MedTech Breakthrough Award for Best Home Health Care Solution. ROMTech continues to expand its platform across orthopedic rehabilitation, cardiac rehabilitation and additional healthcare applications.
