The Avangrid Foundation joined Ronald McDonald House Charities of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts to celebrate completion of an expansion at the Ronald McDonald House of New Haven that increases capacity for families supporting children receiving healthcare at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on March 5, 2026, marking the completion of the organization’s Mission Expansion Campaign and a renovation project supported by grant funding from the Avangrid Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Avangrid Inc., a member of the Iberdrola Group.

The expansion adds eleven new guest rooms at the Ronald McDonald House of New Haven, increasing the facility’s ability to host families whose children are undergoing medical treatment at nearby Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital.

The new rooms include private bathrooms, televisions, and designated spaces intended for rest and reflection. The renovation also included reconfiguration of office space designed to improve staff workflow and support services for families during their healthcare journeys.

“Supporting the Ronald McDonald House expansion reflects Avangrid’s deep commitment to strengthening the communities we serve,” said Avangrid CEO Jose Antonio Miranda. “We are honored that the Avangrid Foundation can help families facing medical crises by contributing to a place that brings strength and stability when life feels uncertain.”

“The Avangrid Foundation is proud to contribute to a space that brings comfort, care, and stability to families navigating serious medical challenges,” said Pablo Colón, Director of Corporate Citizenship and Executive Director of the Avangrid Foundation. “Our partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities ensures more families can remain close to their loved ones during critical treatment and focus on their rest and recovery.”

“Every family deserves to be close to their child during medical treatment without having to worry about where they’ll sleep or how they’ll manage the strain of being far from home. No one understands this vision better than our community partner, Avangrid. Their generous support, made possible through a significant donation that helped bring this expansion to life, will be recognized on the wall of the new guest room they have sponsored.” said Michelle D’Amore, Chief Executive Officer of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts
